Jackson http://wyomingpublicradio.net en Jackson Boy Scouts to auction off elk antlers http://wyomingpublicradio.net/post/jackson-boy-scouts-auction-elk-antlers <p></p><p></p><p>Jackson District Boy Scouts will host their annual Elk Antler Auction during Elkfest in the Jackson Town Square this weekend.</p><p>Each year, the Boy Scouts receive a special-use permit to collect shed antlers on the National Elk Refuge. It ignited Sunday 30 miles west of Pinedale and has prompted some evacuation orders.<br>&nbsp;<br>No buildings have been reported lost. Also called frazil ice, it&rsquo;s a rare phenomenon in which the river freezes from the bed up, so flowing water spills out from the sides of the waterway.</p><p>Teton County Emergency Management Coordinator Rich Ochs says Jackson&rsquo;s Flat Creek is one of the few places in the country with prime conditions for anchor ice to form, winter after winter.
