Woman rescued in Grand Teton donates to search and rescue

Jackson, WY – A woman who was rescued in the backcountry of Grand Teton National Park has donated $25,000 to support further rescue efforts in Grand Teton. Chief Park Ranger Andy Fisher says Carole Hays was rescued from Death Canyon after becoming dehydrated on a hiking trip. Her donation will help establish a "friends group" to give extra support to Grand Teton's search and rescue program.

White House nominates Kip Crofts as U.S. Attorney

Cheyenne, WY – The White House has nominated Christopher "Kip" Crofts to serve as U.S. Attorney for Wyoming.

The White House on Monday sent Crofts' name to the U.S. Senate, where his confirmation is pending.

Crofts serves as counsel to Governor Dave Freudenthal. The governor submitted Crofts' name to the White House earlier this year.

Crofts formerly served in the U.S. Attorney's Office and as director of the state's Division of Criminal Investigation.

Prairie dogs are part of a debate

Gillette, Wy –
Black footed ferrets are scheduled to be reintroduced into the Thunder Basin National Grasslands. Ferrets eat Prairie Dogs and so forest service officials are looking at ways to increase the population of prairie dogs. But part of the management plan allows for the poisoning of some Prairie dogs, so that they don't cause problems for landowners. But Duane Short of the Biodiversity Conservation Alliance says that the bigger picture is the effort to grow numbers of Prairie Dogs, which will help other animals as well.
