Wyoming – Bucking an unwritten policy, The Wyoming legislature is debating a number of social issues this session. One bill seems to symbolize the new discussion. It was a bill that was intended to clarify that gay marriage, even those legally conducted elsewhere, will not be recognized in Wyoming.
Wyoming – A lot of people outside the state capitol are interested in these issues, including a political scientist at the University of Wyoming. Pete Simpson has a long view of Wyoming politics. He served in the legislature in the 1980s. He was once the Republican candidate for Governor, and his brother Al Simpson was a former U.S. Senator.
Cheyenne, WY – The state Senate will discuss a change to the state children's health insurance program today. The bill is intended to raise the eligibility from 200 to 300 percent of the poverty level. But Friday the senate reduced the percentage to 250 percent. Senator Mike Massie of Laramie said the increased eligibility is needed because most people cannot afford insurance.
