Gillette, WY – Police in Gillette have identified a man they say was stabbed on Christmas during an argument with another man over a television remote control.

Authorities said 49-year-old Gary Coca was treated at Campbell County Memorial Hospital for wounds to his chest, neck, back and side.

Police arrested 43-year-old Leo Gene Bloomfield in connection with the attack.

Police said the two men were roommates and had been arguing over a TV remote.

Jackson, WY – Draft legislation would give the state more oversight of efforts to modify the weather to produce more rain and snowfall.

Such efforts include cloud seeding, which involves pumping silver nitrate into clouds to get them to produce precipitation.

Currently the State Engineer's Office reviews applications and grants permits for weather modification programs. The bill would formalize the agency's review of such programs.

Gillette, WY – A coal mine worker who was seriously injured when a bulldozer rolled over remains hospitalized with head injuries.

Forty-four-year-old Clair ``Brian'' Christy was injured in the Christmas Eve accident at the Black Thunder Coal Mine near Wright.

The aboveground surface mine was temporarily shut down after the accident but reopened on Christmas Day.

Arch Coal spokesman Greg Schaefer says the bulldozer rolled over on a steep embankment.

Cheyenne, WY – Sen. John Barrasso has announced that he intends to marry his fiancee Bobbi Brown on New Year's Day in Thermopolis.

Barrasso, R-Wyo., announced his engagement to Brown, a Thermopolis native, this summer. Brown had served as state director for the late Sen. Craig Thomas for nearly 17 years.

Barrasso was selected to succeed Thomas in June by Gov. Dave Freudenthal. Before joining the Senate, Barrasso served as a senator in the Wyoming Legislature and worked as an orthopedic surgeon in Casper.

Powell, WY – A dropped cell phone is being blamed for a power outage in Powell.

About 1,200 people lost power Wednesday after a man who was driving dropped his cell phone, tried to find it, and then drove into one of the town's main electrical feeder lines.

The crash snapped off an electric pole and broke power lines.

Crews were able to restore electricity after about an hour.

The man wasn't seriously hurt in the crash.

Billings, MT – Officials from Montana and Wyoming are revisiting the terms of a proposed agreement between the two states, in a lawsuit over water discharged by the coal-bed methane industry.

One Montana official says the sides are trying to resolve what restrictions on coal-bed methane water should apply, to a pair of tributaries along the Tongue River.

Those tributaries and the Tongue and Powder rivers flow into Montana from Wyoming, which has seen extensive coal-bed methane development in recent years.

Laramie, WY – The crash on I-80 that killed three members of a prominent Denver family Saturday began when their car rear-ended a snowplow.

At first, investigators did not know what made the Parr family vehicle to go out of control, but now they say it's clear that the station wagon first slammed into the snowplow, triggering the five-vehicle collision.

Only one member of the Parr family survived the crash.

Laramie, WY – A Basin denturist who closed his business
after a judge ruled that he was practicing dentistry without a license says he won't give up his fight to resume making dentures in Wyoming.

The Wyoming Board of Dental Examiners claimed that Gary Vollan was practicing dentistry without a license. A judge agreed, and last year signed an injunction preventing Vollan from making
dentures.

The Department of Transportation's Dave Kingham says snowplows can become nearly invisible as they kick up big clouds of snow around them.

Green River, Wy – Despite efforts to save the historic Lincoln School in Green River, the building has been torn down. When it was completed in 1922 the Art Deco school was considered among the most modern in the state. The school district gave the building to the city in 1996, but residents were unable to find a use for it. City Administrator Barry Cook says the city has begun the process of selling the land, possibly for much-needed single-family
housing.
