Film Rebate Bill Moves Forward

Cheyenne, WY – The proposal to give film companies a rebate if they shoot in Wyoming made it out of a senate committee today. The state House already passed this bill. So, it only needs the approval of the Senate and governor. The chair of the Travel Committee, Senator Bruce Burns, says offering a rebate has a lot of potential to have a positive impact. This bill would only give a rebate to movie companies that spend 500 thousand in Wyoming during production.

State Legislature Votes Down Lottery Bill

Cheyenne, WY – The bill to create a lottery in Wyoming died last night. The vote was fairly close in the state House, but those opposed to joining a multi state lottery and making scratch and win tickets available won out. Representative Rodney Pete Anderson argued that he didn't want Wyoming to be responsible for marketing a form of gambling. There have been a couple of polls in the state showing support for the lottery and it had seemed momentum was behind the lottery bill.
