Washington D-C – A proposed coal-to-liquids facility near Hanna has entered into a long-term contract to sell all of its low-sulfur
diesel fuel to Sinclair Oil Corporation.
Sinclair would then market the fuel in the Rocky Mountain region.
That announcement comes today (Friday) from Medicine Bow Fuel
and Power, which is a subsidiary of D-K-R-W Advanced Fuels.
The company is planning to build a one-point-three (B)
billion-dollar coal-to-liquids plant at an Arch Coal mine near

Cheyenne, WY – Governor Freudenthal says he doesn't support a proposed constitutional amendment that would allow the state to make direct investments in power plants and power lines. Currently the state constitution doesn't allow such investments. One goal of the amendment would be to encourage construction of cleaner-burning power plants in the state.

Cheyenne, WY – The state is not quite as rich as it was at the end of 2006. New projections for revenue are 250 million dollars lower than estimates done in October. This still leaves the state legislature with 500 million dollars of surplus. The chair of the House Appropriations committee Frank Philp says the drop will have an impact though. Philp says the good news is they funded all the operational expenses of government last year. And even with a downturn in revenue things like the Hathaway Scholarship are still solvent.

Laramie, WY – Colorado lost as many as 15-thousand cattle in the late December blizzard, but Wyoming livestock were largely spared. Some southeast-Wyoming ranchers reported problems reaching their cattle for feeding during the storm, but none reported large losses. Jim Magagna is a spokesman for the Wyoming Stockgrower's Association. He says Wyoming ranchers have a different problem on their minds--not enough snow. He says agricultural forecasts predict spring rains will be lower that what the ranchers need.
