Casper, WY – New census data show Wyoming ranks sixth in the nation for education spending per pupil. The state spent about $14,600 per student in elementary and secondary public schools on average in 2008-09, up from $13,800 in 2007-08. Neighboring Utah spent the least per pupil in 2009, $6,400. Washington D-C – Sens. Mike Enzi and John Barrasso are supporting proposed legislation that would allow federal money not spent by states to decrease the national debt. The Wyoming Republicans say the measure would help end the "use it or lose it" mentality among many state legislatures.
