JAC Co-chair Phil Nicholas talks about the need to save money

Laramie, Wy – Last week, the legislature's Joint Appropriations Committee met to consider Governor Freudenthal's budget. In the process the committee learned that the state revenue picture is much better than expected and that lawmakers currently have a reserve account of over a billion dollars. But that news makes the chairman of the Senate Appropriations Committee want to urge caution. Phil Nicholas speaks with WPR's Bob Beck.

After vote, foreign language requirement stands

In Johnson County, Sand Creek Ranch dispute continues

Laramie, Wyo. – An attempt to reach a settlement in a two-and-a-half-year property tax dispute in Johnson County has failed. The case will now be settled in District Court. After dividing up his ranch into one-acre sections in an attempt to draw investors, Sand Creek Ranch owner John Jenkins saw his property tax bill go from $4 thousand to $120 thousand an acre.
