Afton, Wy – Maverik says the people who decided to fire an HIV-positive worker at one of its stores didn't know about his condition. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a lawsuit against Maverik Inc. in Wyoming federal court last month. It says the convenience store chain fired bakery clerk Randy Ramos from its store in Afton because he was HIV positive. The firing came 13 days after his HIV status was revealed to the company in letter from the Wyoming Workers' Safety and Compensation Division.
