Laramie, Wyo. – The Wyoming Representative who last year sponsored the Firearms Freedom Act says that he expects to see many more bills asserting states' rights during the legislative session this winter. States' rights measures were ascendant in states across the west and south last year, and Wyoming was no exception.

Sen. Barrasso to deliver GOP radio address

Cheyenne, Wyo. – Wyoming Sen. John Barrasso will deliver the Republican response to President Obama's weekly national radio address this weekend.

Barrasso's address will air nationally on Saturday immediately after the president's address to the nation.

He says his talk will center on the need for accountability in Washington.

Federal officials deny Montana wolf hunt request

Helena, Mont. – Federal officials have denied Montana's request to hunt endangered gray wolves in response to the predators' increasing attacks on livestock and big-game herds.

The state hoped to exploit a loophole in the Endangered Species Act and hold a "conservation hunt" for up to 186 wolves this fall. That request was denied in a Thursday letter from U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Deputy Director Daniel Ashe.

BLM to auction rights to 260 square miles

CHEYENNE, wyo – The U.S. Bureau of Land Management is planning to auction off the rights to drill on nearly 260 square miles of public land around Wyoming.
The rights to 156 parcels of federal land are scheduled for sale November 2nd in Cheyenne.
The lease sales are held every three months. Half of the proceeds go to the federal government and half to the state of Wyoming.

Wyoming Ranks 28th Nationally In Binge Drinking

LARAMIE, wyo – According to the Centers for Disease Control, Wyoming ranks 28th in the nation for binge drinking. In a telephone survey conducted by the C-D-C nearly 16-percent of the states population reported having five or more drinks in one sitting at least once a week.
