Laramie, Wyo. – The state health department is encouraging employers to take more responsibility in improving workers' health. Joe Grandpre is a chronic disease epidemiologist with the department. He says that - because most people spend a third of their lives at work - it's important to take wellness seriously in the workplace. And he says more Wyoming employers can offer workers incentives to do things like exercise, eat well, and get necessary medical tests and screenings.
Laramie, Wyo. – University of Wyoming linebacker Ruben Narcisse was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 287 early this morning. Narcisse was 19 and from Miami, Florida.
The University of Wyoming is reporting that three other U-W football players were injured in the accident. They are Trey Fox, C.J. Morgan, and J.J. Quinlan. As of this afternoon, Morgan was in fair condition at the Medical Center of the Rockies in Loveland, Co.
Laramie, Wyo. – The Wyoming Cowboys football team opens their season Saturday night against Southern Utah. The Cowboys enter the season following an impressive end to 2009, winning three out of the last four games.
Rawlins, Wy – Carbon County is dismissing criminal charges against a former Rawlins police captain who had been accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old girl. The county attorney's office said Thursday it is dismissing charges against Adam Lee Meacham. Prosecutors this week said new evidence had surfaced concerning the time frame involved. Meacham had denied wrongdoing. He was set to go to trial in Thermopolis next week. In July, a Casper jury acquitted Meacham of five counts of child sexual abuse in a separate case.
