Buffalo Bill Historical Center Offers Land

Laramie, WY – The Buffalo Bill Historical Center is
considering offering some of its land for a proposed events center in Cody.

Historical Center Executive Director Bruce Eldredge says the historical center has enough land to accommodate the proposed 30,000-square foot facility, plus parking.

The Cody Events Center Task Force is working with architects to work on the site acquisition portion of the plan.

Cody City Administrator Andy Whiteman says the earliest that an events center could be built is 2013.

Enzi to Announce Saturday

Washington, DC – Republican Sen. Mike Enzi will announce on
Saturday whether he plans to seek re-election.

Enzi, Wyoming's senior senator, has been mum about his election plans so far. Elly Pickett, spokeswoman for the senator, said
Monday that she couldn't say in advance of Saturday's event whether he will run again.

Enzi is the former mayor of Gillette. He says he will announce his decision at an ice cream social at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Gillette City Hall.

Report Says Youth Facility Has Been A Problem For Years

Casper, Wy – A report says a juvenile facility in
Casper has been locking up youth in jail space that was deemed
unsuitable for adults over a decade ago.
The report obtained by The Associated Press also says that youth
at the Regional Juvenile Detention Center are locked up in ways
that increase their risk of committing suicide or physically or
sexually assaulting one another.

Man Arrested In Infant Death

Cheyenne, Wy – Cheyenne police arrested a 24-year-old man
in the death of his girlfriend's 13-month-old girl.
According to a police press release, Ariana Martin was
pronounced dead by the Laramie County Coroner at Cheyenne Regional
Medical Center after the girl was found Thursday night lying
unresponsive in an apartment bedroom. Police say investigators
found injuries on the infant's body that did not appear to be
accidental.

Frontier Days To Change Approach

Cheyenne, Wy – Cheyenne Frontier Days is imposing
stricter rules on the use of hand-held electric shock devices on
horses in the annual rodeo.
Until now, the "Daddy of 'Em All" had followed the
Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association rules on the use of the
prodding devices.
The PRCA rules allow for shocking a horse before a ride if the
stock contractor, the cowboy riding the horse and the PRCA judge
all agree the horse might stall coming out of the chute.

Group Concerned with Pope's Statements on Gays

Laramie, WY – The Pope has concerned families of Gays and Lesbians with comments that they think could validate violence towards gays.

During the Pope's visit to America, the group Fortunate Families is asking to the Pope to show more compassion and to stop labeling gays and lesbians as objectively disordered. Wyoming Chapter Representative Drew Conneen says the Vatican does not condemn gay and lesbian people just their sexual activity. That is why he wants the church to show more compassion instead of making inflammatory comments.

No More Fish Stocking

Laramie, WY – The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has
asked the Wyoming Game and Fish Department not to restock Teton Reservoir with fish.

The reservoir is on Sage Creek Road south of Rawlins and is a popular fishing spot. But the BLM says lack of water and inadequate depth has reduced the reservoir's ability to support fish.

BLM spokesman Bruce Collins says game department has been stocking the reservoir with several thousand rainbow and brown trout each year.
