Governor Picks Bucking Horse For Quarter

Cheyenne, Wy – The bucking horse and rider logo and the
"Equality State" motto has been chosen by Governor Freudenthal to appear on the state quarter that the U-S Mint will issue.
Freudenthal says the design represents both Wyoming's proud
Western heritage and its historical role in establishing equal
voting rights for women.
U-S Treasury Secretary John Snow will have ultimate approval
over the design.
Wyoming's quarter is scheduled to be released in the summer of
2007. The states are being honored in the order of their admission

No Smoking In Wyoming Prisons

Cheyenne, Wy – Smoke 'em if you've got 'em. Because in
Wyoming's prisons, time is running out.
Starting July first, tobacco products will be prohibited on all
Corrections Department property, including corrections
institutions, their grounds -- even their vehicles.
Already, the Corrections Department is making preparations.
That includes smoking cessation programs for inmates, which

New Student Testing System A Success

Laramie, Wy – Students across Wyoming are done taking the annual assessment tests. These are required under state and federal law, but this year Wyoming used a new exam. Part of it is done online and it is supposed to give teachers instantaneous information about students' strengths and weaknesses. Doctor Cheryl Schroeder is with the Department of Ed's assessment team. She says this new system worked.
