Laramie, Wy – Four years ago this week an alcohol related accident further devastated the state of Wyoming already reeling from September 11th. The accident left eight University of Wyoming cross country runners dead at the hands of a drunk driver. For years state lawmakers fought off attempts to enhance drinking and driving penalties and other driving related issues. But the Facilitator of the Governors Council on Impaired Driving Lori Pozarik says that accident changed the landscape.
Pozarik notes that several enhanced Driving under the Influence laws have been passed, including a lowering of the legal blood alcohol limit for drivers. She says the fact that several citizens used that accident as a cause to rally around has made all the difference in the world.
