Laramie, WY – Attorney General Pat Crank says papers have been filed in a federal district court this week that would allow hunting bison on the National Elk Refuge near Jackson. Meanwhile, a hunt scheduled for Saturday was delayed because a nine-year federal ban wasn't lifted in time. Refuge Manager Steve Kallin says the 12-hundred bison that come to the refuge to graze on alfalfa pellets must be contained.
Attorney General Crank says he's confident a judge will sign the papers soon, allowing plans for the bison hunt to continue.
