Laramie, Wy – Family, friends and others bid goodbye to
a group of Wyoming Army National Guard soldiers being deployed to Iraq.
Nearly 160 members of the Guard's 2-300th Field Artillery will be gone for more than a year.
The 2-300th is based in Sheridan and also has units in Casper, Cody, Douglas, Gillette, Lander, Lovell, Powell and Worland.
Ten of the unit's soldiers are going back to Iraq for the second time in under a year.
Units of the 2-300th returned to Wyoming last spring after serving as a security detail for top-level officials in Iraq's interim government near Baghdad.
