Cheyenne, Wy – The Wyoming Department of Corrections
reports that the rate of reported assaults among inmates in state
prison facilities has fallen this year.
The agency investigated eight physical altercations involving
inmates over the last six months, which averages out to
one-point-three per month.
From October 2003 to June 2005, there were an average of
four-point-two altercations per month. It has been falling since
State Corrections Director Bob Lampert credits the
professionalism of the department's staff for helping reduce the
number of inmate altercations.
