ATV Supporters React to Forest Rule

Laramie, WY – As the forest service drew up its new off-road vehicle, or O-R-V, rule, ORV enthusiasts and industry representatives kept a hand in the process. O-R-V advocacy group the Blue Ribbon Coalition provided input on the new rule. Effective shortly, national forests must tally their O-R-V routes and designate which can officially be used. Coalition founder and director Clark Collins says his group wants to influence that process.
Collins says some O-R-V users enjoy forging their own routes. But, in the medicine bow national forest, an environmental group recently won a case forcing the forest service to close off these kinds open routes. The alliance claimed O-R-V users were harming sensitive landscapes.
