Avalanche Death Numbers Climb

Jackson, Wy – Two people died in avalanches in the region this week adding to an already record-breaking increase in avalanche deaths over the past decade compared to previous decades. Bridger teton national forest avalanche center director Bob Comey says the combination of more people in general visiting avalanche terrain.... as well as more advanced back-country equipment . Have contributed to that spike in avalanche deaths. Comey also says conditions right now are perfect for avalanches in the western mountains. He says inexperienced people in the backcountry are at risk.
