Banishment Struck Down

Cheyenne, WY – Wyoming's Supreme Court has ruled that a man convicted of battery against his girlfriend cannt be banished from Natrona County as part of his sentence. Natrona County resident Ollie Crabtree was convicted in 2003 and ordered to serve between 18 months and two years in jail. District Judge Thomas Sullins also ordered that Crabtree not be allowed to return to Natrona County if he was released early. While affirming Crabtree's conviction, the Supreme Court unanimously concluded the lower court abused its discretion when it banned Crabtree from the county.
