Laramie, WY – The Bureau of Land Management in Casper announced today (Friday) that it acquired a 275-acre parcel of land along the North Platte River near Gray Reef. The acquisition had been a priority at the BLM for years. U-S Senator John Barrasso even showed up to celebrate the occasion. The property is now open for public use and access to the riverfront will likely stay restricted to pedestrians. Luke Lynch is a representative for the Conservation Fund, the organization that partnered with the BLM to acquire the land. He says the project will support the health of the North Platte River including its banks, wetlands and fish populations. Lynch says that's good for both the environment and the people who enjoy it. The Conservation Fund negotiated the acquisition and took title on an interim basis pending the completion of federal funding.
