State officials will meet with industry representatives and the public next month in Pinedale for an annual oil and gas planning meeting. Industry representatives and several state agencies will discuss issues related to air and water quality and economic development.
Bureau of Land Management spokeswomen Shelley Gregory says oil and gas operators will forecast their employment for the next year so the community can prepare for an influx of workers.
“We do cover the socio-economic topics from the operators, just so that the community can anticipate the workforce that will coming in or leaving”
The meeting will also focus on ozone levels in the area, which are higher than permitted under the Clean Air Act.
Gregory says oil and gas operators will give updates on what they are doing to curb emissions. In addition, state agencies will present research findings relating to environmental impacts.
The meeting will take place at the BLM offices in Pinedale on August 9th and is open to the public.
