Laramie, WY – The U.S. Bureau of Land Management plans to conduct up to eight prescribed burns around Carbon County this spring.
The agency advises the public that smoke may be visible at times.
The BLM says the burns will be carried out only when weather, wind and other conditions are right to keep them under control. Most of the burns are intended to remove sagebrush and other growth that has become so old that it's unproductive. Ash from the burned vegetation fertilizes the ground and encourages the growth of nutritious, young shrubs.
