LARAMIE, wyo – The Wyoming Livestock Board is wrapping up testing of cattle from 12 herds in northwest Wyoming. They are testing for brucellosis after confirming the bacteria in four cows from a single Park County herd earlier this month. The other herds being tested all had contact or were comingled with the affected group. State Veterinarian Jim Logan says so far tests from those herds have all come back negative. Results from the remaining 1000 head of cattle should be available by Wednesday or Thursday of this week. Assuming all tests from the contact herds remain negative, no further testing of those animals will be required. The affected herd is under quarantine and will undergo further testing, until three consecutive tests of the entire herd come back negative. There will be a quarantine release test a year after that.
