Laramie, Wy – The Business Council board of directors has approved seven-point-two million dollars in grants for local communities. The problem is there isn't any money available to spend. This means the State Loan and Investment Board will have to ask the legislature for the funding for these projects to proceed in March.
The manager of this grant program is Shawn Reese. He says this is important because otherwise the money won't be available until July. Reese says it should be funded as quickly as possible because these are projects that are ready to go forward and partnerships are in place to create jobs.
Reese says waiting also would mean construction costs could go up. The Business Council is asking for another 46 million dollars in grants and loans.
