Cheyenne, WY – After 118 years in business, a staple of
downtown Cheyenne is closing its doors.
A.E. Roedel Drugs will close the pharmacy on March second, and close down its retail operation sometime in April, according to John Roedel, a pharmacy technician and son of owner Priscilla
He says competition from chain pharmacies have made it impossible for the family owned store to compete. Roedel could have stayed open another couple years, he said, but at a steep cost.
Cheyenne attorney Stephen Melchior and his wife are in negotiations to buy the Roedel building. He says they haven't
decided yet what to do with the property.
