Cody Concerts in the Park
The Cody Parks and Recreation Department is gearing up for another great summer of FREE live music in Cody’s downtown City Park. The Concerts in the Park expose residents and visitors to a diverse array of musical talent in an amazing outdoor venue—made even better last year with the addition of a new sound system!
New this year, the weekly concerts will be held on Thursday evenings - a move from Fridays in summers past - July 12th through August 24th. (Our final concert and Annual Ice Cream Social will remain on Friday night.) The 3rd Annual Labor-Less Music Fest again caps the summer concert series. This year, organizers are expanding the festival with one concert on Friday night, August 31st, and three acts taking the stage from 1 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 1st.
The 2012 Concerts in the Park are brought to you by the City of Cody Parks, Recreation & Public Facilities Department with support from the Cody City Council. This project is supported by many generous local sponsors and by grants from the Cody Country Chamber of Commerce, Park County Parks & Recreation Board, Park County Travel Council, Shoshone Recreation District and the Wyoming Arts Council through funding from the Wyoming State Legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.
3rd Annual Labor-Less Music Fest
2012 marks the third summer for the Labor-Less Music Fest – a free music festival during the Labor Day weekend that attracts visitors to and encourages residents to stay and enjoy all that Cody has to offer at the end of the summer season. The festival caps the annual Concerts in the Park series which offers free live music each Thursday in July and August in Cody’s downtown City Park.
This summer event organizers are expanding the festival to two days – Friday, August 31st, and Saturday, September 1st. Music lovers will enjoy one concert on Friday night and three diverse acts from 1 to 8 p.m. on Saturday. (Please see schedule below.) A “Local Music Showcase” will be featured Saturday morning where local musicians can take the City Park band shell stage and showcase their musical style. (Interested musicians should contact Amy Quick at email@example.com or 527-3490.)
Other new additions to this summer’s festival include Zumba on the Lawn presented by Paul Stock Aquatic & Recreation Center staff to get everyone pumped up for the day’s events on Saturday morning; Art in the Park and a Trunk Sale by Cody Country Art League members who will sell their original artwork; Kids’ Art Demos; food and beverage vendors; and more. More details will be available on all activities as the summer progresses.
