Cold shuts down Gillette Schools

Gillette, Wy – The bitter cold gripping Wyoming caused school cancellations and delays and lots of stalled cars. Gillette recorded a low temperature of 21 below early Monday
morning. Plumbing businesses in Gillette were inundated with reports of
frozen and burst pipes. Gillette hardware stores found themselves running short on
plumbing supplies. The Campbell County Sheriff's Office was patrolling the roads
for stranded cars.
Campbell County schools were closed Monday because of the bitter
cold.
Temperatures hovering near 20 below zero Monday morning caused
difficulties in getting school buses started in Sheridan County.
That resulted in two-hour delays for Sheridan County School
Districts 1 and 2.
