Casper, Wy – The new scholarship program for Wyoming residents will provide a boost to the state. That's the opinion of the executive director of the Wyoming Community College Commission, Jim Rose. He also says the money from the Hathaway Scholarships could mean students will finish college more quickly and it could increase the number of high school graduates that go to college. Right now about 50% of them go on to higher education.
Rose says if the task force designing the scholarship program recognizes part time students it will embrace more of the population. There are currently 21 thousand people in Wyoming that are taking courses at one of the seven community colleges.
