Congressional Debates Aired on WPR
Wyoming – Republican and Democratic candidates for the U.S. House race will face off in the first of this election season's candidate forums, Tuesday, August 3 at 7 pm, on Wyoming Public Television in Primary Focus - Candidates for U.S. House of Representatives. The live debates will be simulcast on Wyoming Public Radio.
Journalist Geoff O'Gara will moderate as incumbent Barbara Cubin and challengers Marvin Applequist, Bruce Asay and Cale Case meet at the round-table in the Republican debate. Al Hamburg, John Henley and Ted Ladd face off in the Democrats round. A lightning round, with quick unrehearsed answers to the key issues and closing statements will finish out the evening.
Wyoming Public Radio will simulcast the Public Television Debates and will offer reports on both events Wednesday during Morning Edition. "This is a wonderful chance for as many voters in the state to hear the candidates in a head to head setting. " said Wyoming Public Radio News Director Bob Beck. "This is the first time Wyomingites will be able to see Congresswoman Cubin face her opponents on the same stage. For that we thank WPTV for allowing us to air their production."
Wyoming Public Television will air a repeat of the program on Thursday, August 12 at 8 pm and Sunday, August 15 at 2 pm.
Fremont county residents can attend the live debates at the Central Wyoming College Little Theatre in the Morfeld Student Activity Center. Those planning to attend are asked to come early as everyone must be seated by 6:50 pm.
