Laramie, WY – Work began Monday on site preparation for
the planned University of Wyoming Convention Center and hotel site in Laramie.
Phil Harris is vice president of administration for U-W. He said the preparation work includes building a detention pond and configuring the site for construction of parking and buildings.
Harris said site preparation will take a few weeks and said work will then commence on bringing utilities to the site.
Ultimately the center on Grand Avenue will include convention space, hotel rooms and retail stores.
Last week the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality told U-W that cleaning up contamination from an underground storage tank that leaked in the area won't interfere with any of the center construction plans.
