Laramie, Wy – A University of Wyoming athlete that normally competes out of the limelight nearly won the national collegiate championship this weekend. Cyclist Clayton Barrows finished fourth overall but he essentially tied the winner.
Barrows who grew up in Laramie is now going to compete in other amateur events before graduating in December, he would like to eventually ride professionally in Europe and if maybe someday the Olympics, though he acknowledges that goal is a long ways off.
Barrows studies engineering at U-W. He will race in the Tour of Utah this summer as well as the Elite Nationals, which is the top race for amateurs.
