Jackson, WY – A bicyclist who was hit by a delivery truck in Grand Teton National Park last month has been flown to a Utah hospital following complications from the accident.
Fifty-four-year-old Alfons Moreno broke several bones in the
accident May 11.The Jackson Hole News and Guide reports Moreno had surgery on
his arm, but he was flown to a Salt Lake City hospital after
doctors later discovered an infection in Moreno's hip. The
newspaper reports doctors have operated twice to clean out the
infection. Park rangers cited 54-year-old truck driver Robert Williams of
Jackson with unsafe operation.The accident occurred on the same stretch where a cyclist was killed by a drunken driver in 2001. The park is working on a
pathway that they hope will prevent accidents.
