Laramie, Wy – Wyoming congresswoman Barbara Cubin says cracking down on illegal immigration will be her top priority in Congress next year.
The Republican says the nation needs a real immigration policy enacted into law.
Cubin also says she strongly disagrees with President Bush's plan to grant temporary legal status to undocumented workers.
Cubin says her passion on the issue stems from her belief that national security is at stake, that current laws are not being enforced. She also says illegal immigration is the most important issue facing the country right now that hasn't been dealt with.
Wyoming's two senators have not been as outspoken as Cubin on immigration.
The House may take up legislation dealing with aspects of border security before the holidays, but the Senate is not expected to bring up immigration reform until early 2006.
