Laramie, Wy – Governor Freudenthal Tuesday released a report his campaign produced on his first three-and-one-half years in office.
The report offers praise for the Republican-dominated Legislature while concluding that the state is on the right track after his first term.
The report marks the kickoff of Freudenthal's re-election campaign. It states that he and the Legislature have relied on a
culture of cooperation to develop Wyoming's energy resources while
diversifying the economy and investing in its people.
Freudenthal, a Democrat, told reporters in Casper Tuesday that his campaign paid for the report and plans to mail it to at least 40-thousand Wyoming residents.
Republican gubernatorial candidate Ray Hunkins says the report shows Freudenthal has given himself a report card. And Hunkins says he's not surprised the governor gave himself an 'A.'
Hunkins said he sees energy and big government as the only segments that have expanded in the state on Freudenthal's watch. Hunkins said Wyoming's reliance on energy exports amounts to a third-world economy.
