Dept. of Labor seeking contractors for Wind River Job Corps

The U.S. Department of Labor is finally starting the process of looking for contractors to build the Wind River Job Corps in Riverton. The site, which will provide vocational training for disadvantaged live-in students, has been slow going. Director of the Fremont County Board of Cooperative Education Services, Sandy Barton, says this is great news for the center.   

“This is a sources sought, they’re actually doing market research, they’re looking to see what kind of potential small businesses with the capabilities and experience that we have in Wyoming or the surrounding area to perform the required work that will be necessary at the Wind River Job Corps.”

Barton hopes the Labor Department will consider only small, local businesses to do the construction. Contractors have until December 20th to register with the Department of Labor here. If research shows that there aren’t enough Wyoming contractors, the bidding will be open to all.
