Pinedale, Wy – The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality is talking with Pinedale natural gas producers about how to reduce ozone pollution. Dave Finley of the D-E-Q says, right now, producers are required to upgrade old wells with pollution-limiting technology...only when they're installing new wells nearby. That regulation is up for discussion now.
"One of the things that we are going to be looking at is going back to those companies and saying, we don't really care to wait."
In other words, the D-E-Q may ask companies to upgrade old wells before they install new ones. The Department has issued three health warnings in three weeks about high levels of ozone in the Pinedale area
