Cheyenne, WY – With gas prices well over two dollars a gallon, fuel efficiency is taking on greater importance. The state Department of Environmental Quality is currently showcasing a fuel efficient hybrid car. A grant from the Environmental Protection Agency allowed the DEQ to lease a hybrid Honda Civic that the agency has been using for the last six months. The DEQ's Robin Lockman says they hope to raise awareness in the state about hybrids. She says the car gets about 50 miles per gallon and emits 5% less pollution. Lockman says the hybrid is one of the most popular cars at the DEQ and there's always a waiting list to drive it. She says in six months the car already has over 20,000 miles on it. The DEQ is now looking to apply for a grant next year to acquire a hybrid SUV.
