Laramie, WY – Entering this week's legislative session, Wyoming is just one of two states without anti-dog fighting laws, and some would like that to change.
Last year Big Horn Republican Rosie Berger did not get far with similar legislation, but following the news of former NFL Quarterback Michael Vick and his involvement with Dog fighting, Berger says she has gained many more supporters.
Berger is proposing a law that actually focuses more on animal abuse, but adds dog fighting to the mix. It makes a first offense a misdemeanor, a second offense of dog fighting a high misdemeanor and a third offense a felony. Berger says many think her bill is too weak and there may be attempts to strengthen it if it gets to be debated.
