Economic Devlopment Group Closes Shop

Rawlins, WY – An organization that handles economic development in Carbon County has decided to disband. The Carbon County Economic Development Corporation voted Monday night to suspend operations. The decision was a response to the County Commission only giving the group half of the funding it had requested. Economic Development Corporation Board President Harry Lovato says the group felt they wouldn't be able to function properly without the additional funding. Lovato, himself, was against the decision to suspend operations. He thinks it will make economic development much harder for Carbon County. Lovato says another group of people could restart the economic development corporation at some point down the line. He says they'll be meeting with the County Commissioners to inform them of the decision to disband.
