Effort to increase heart attack awareness

Cheyenne, WY – Surveys show that 59 percent of Wyoming adults don't recognize heart attack and stroke signs and symptoms.

In response, the Wyoming Department of Health's Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Program is providing "wallet cards" to help residents learn more.

Joe Grandpre of the agency's chronic disease section notes heart disease is the number one killer of adults in Wyoming. He says stroke is the number four killer and the number one cause of
permanent disability.
