Laramie, Wy – Officials are discussing how to proceed with enhanced oil recovery. Because of high gas prices, the need for more oil has become even greater. And with oil prices at very high levels, there is also a lot of money to be made. State Geologist Ron Surdam says Wyoming's efforts in enhanced oil recovery have the potential to be a boon to developers. " All you have to do is get the Carbon Monoxide out of the atmosphere in one form or another and inject it in these old oil fields. And you can get as much oil out of those fields with enhanced oil recovery as you did with the initial oil recovery".
Surdam expects a number of current mineral developers to get involved in oil recovery, but he says getting the effort started is the key.
