Laramie, Wy – The Wyoming Farm Bureau has joined its national group in expressing outrage over the U-S Supreme Court ruling concerning private property rights. The court ruled that private property could be seized for economic development purposes. Wyoming Farm Bureau President Karen Henry says she understands using eminent domain for pipelines and roads, but this ruling worries her, because it could mean that if someone wanted to "put a mall or development on your property, apparently they can do that" and there is little a landowner can do. "I find the ruling hard to believe" said Henry.
Henry expects local legislation to attempt to protect landowners, but she admits there may be little they can do.
