Cody, Wy – A fire burning 40 miles West of Cody has gotten so difficult to fight that a top-level national firefighting team has been called in to help. The gunbarrel fire made a run at nearly 600 houses and buildings late last week and officials have requested a national Type One fire team to come in. It could take over as early as Wednesday. Information officer Randy Moench (Munch) says crews had to do extensive work at The Star Hill Ranch in Park County. " They did defensible space work around the ranch and cut about six cords worth of wood away from the structures in that area."
There are more than 230 people currently working on the fire, and that number is likely to grow when the Type One team arrives.
