Cheyenne, WY – Foreign Language will not be a requirement for those applying for Hathaway scholarship money. The idea failed largely because some legislators feared that rural high schools would be unable to offer the classes. Torrington Representative Ed Buchanan calls it a real concern. But Riverton Representative Del McComie argued that such classes can be taken remotely, for example, online. The House also rejected a plan to tie a student's performance on the statewide student assessment to the amount of money they can get. The house will take a final vote on the bill on Friday.
