Fort Caspar

Fort Caspar is a reconstructed 1865 military post located at a major river crossing on the Oregon, Mormon Pioneer, California, Pony Express, and transcontinental telegraph trail corridor. 

This Central Wyoming regional history museum features exhibits on prehistoric peoples, Plains Indians, ranching, the energy industry, and the City of Casper as well as the western emigrant trails and frontier army.

Special Traveling Exhibit Our Lives, Our Stories: America's Greatest Generation


April 6 – May 28, 2012 

From the National Endowment for the Humanities “On the Road” Series, this exhibit explores the experiences of a single generation – the stories of their lives, told in their words – from birth to old age. Special events and activities to be announced.

Lee Cullimore will discuss his new book, The Boys of Company K: Ohio Cavalry Soldiers in the West During the Civil War.  More information to come.

"Impressions on Wyoming" Summer 2012 Lecture Series

"Impressions on Wyoming” is the Museum’s annual lecture series. 

Wednesdays at 6:30 pm on June 20, June 27, July 11, and July 18 learn about Wyoming from east to west and from past to present.  Free of charge.  This program is sponsored in part by the Wyoming Humanities Council and the Fort Caspar Museum Association.

Tuesdays thru Saturdays; closed Sundays & Mondays

Fort Buildings: The buildings are locked for winter, however the fort grounds are accessible
