Riverton, WY – Fremont County schools are trying to crack down on students using text messages to bully other students. Schools Superintendent Paige Fenton Hughes says the policy for the High school and Junior High schools is that students will no longer be able to use their cell phones during school hours: "We've had a couple of incidents of using cell phones to bully other kids or send inappropriate messages about kids to a large number of students."
Fenton Hughes says student will still be able to use cell phones before and after school, and in monitored lunch time settings. She says the goal is to cut down on the bullying by increasing the supervision. The district trustees approved the new policy and said some students were traumatized by the bullying.
