Cheyenne, Wyo. – Gov. Dave Freudenthal has scheduled a news conference to discuss his proposals for new laws for Wyoming's wind energy industry.
Freudenthal has said he'd like to introduce a bill in the legislative session that starts Feb. 8 to tax wind energy production.
The Governor's Office declined to release specifics about the proposed legislation in advance of Monday's meeting. The Legislature's Task Force on Wind Energy has also recommended legislation related to the wind industry.
Task Force members say they expect bills to be filed soon that would establish statewide minimum county standards for wind projects and expand the Industrial Siting Act to cover more wind farms.
