Cheyenne, WY – Governor Dave Freudenthal was in Washington D-C last week. While he was there he had the opportunity to talk with members of Congress and the Obama administration about building power lines.
Freudenthal told them a lack of transmission is preventing the development of more wind resources in Wyoming, but he doesn't want the lines built recklessly: "It's a complex planning thing and it is one that if done right can work very well for this state. If done wrong we will end up with a hodge podge of transmission routes; none of which optimize the utilization of the corridor."
The federal stimulus plan includes over three billion dollars for transmission lines in the West. Governor Freudenthal says he told federal officials to make the lines big enough that there will be room on them over the next decade.
