Freudenthal Urges Trustees To Take Their Time

Cheyenne, Wy – Governor Dave Freudenthal says he is urging U-W trustees not to rush, as they try and find a new President. Freudenthal has talked with trustees about what direction they might want to take, but he thinks it is important that they take their time and make the right selection. He believes acting President Tom Buchanan will do a good job when Phil Dubois leaves for North Carolina, which will allow then some extra time. As for his preference, Freudenthal says he does not necessarily favor a particular type of person. It has to be somebody who obviously has the necessary academic credentials, but what we are really looking for here is a leader. And a leader who can help us build an institution. And one who is interested in connecting the University to the rest of the state, because Wyoming is connected to the University and cares about it . Freudenthal admits he'd like someone with Wyoming ties, but says that is not necessary. Trustees say they will conduct a national search. Dubois will leave his post in June.
